Mountain Biking

One way to spend a day in Puerto Vallarta is sitting on the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying a nice Pina Colada . . . . OR you could go on a nice relaxing bike ride.

Start with a 60 minute drive to the beautiful little town of El Tuito.  Have a traditional breakfast of eggs, sausage and beans and then hit the "road".  Well the first 10 km could be considered a road but then it turns into more of a donkey trail (which comes by its name honestly).  After about 30 km of straight climbing and rolling hills you reach the beautiful vista overlooking the surreal beach town of Yelapa.  There are no roads to Yelapa and most "regular" people prefer to take a water taxi to enjoy what Yelapa has to offer, but not me.

After the short, if you can stay on your bike (I'm still working on that part), descend from the vista and a quick tour through town you'll end your ride on the powder sand beaches of the ocean.  If you are not suffering from dehydration or heat stroke why not have a cold beer while you wait for the water taxi to take you back home.

All said you are looking at a 43 km ride, 7-ish hours and +36 degree heat. Who wants to go next?
